Educational Emphases

All the research associates have collegiate teaching experience. Cohort mentoring is an important component of educational projects. Several have extensive work in program development and informal education for general audiences, elementary and secondary education. These associates are professionals in museum studies and education whose efforts are to apply research projects with public outreach. For collegiate projects, products for and interaction with community engagement are stressed.

These are some pictures taken from different projects/assignments that involved ARIES.

Community Engagement

Community engagement for and about research and education is sought for all projects. Invitations are made to local groups to participate in the planning, development and implementation of the research and education projects. This often includes resource management, sustainable tourism and eco-heritage efforts among diverse communities. Other community interactions involve facilitation about risk management and economic impacts from disaster. For example, the Working Together for a Safer Tomorrow program of DHS CREATE provides facilitation and joint sponsorship of community activities to improve preparation, response and recovery.
