The Vision of the Port Hampton Research and Education Association (PHA) is to provide for all ages interactive experiences through the interdisciplinary study of Historic Elizabeth City Parish and its changing communities. This is a project of Applied Research in Environmental Sciences NonProfit, Inc.

The Port Hampton Research and Education Association consist of an integrated team as the steering committee. They represent members in the Hampton community who are interested in a research and education program under the umbrella of historical ecology. Consequently, the association pursues diverse projects that are multi-disciplinary. The steering committee currently includes public historians, archaeologists, an environmental planner, a marine scientist, geospatial technicians, and museum educators.

Why we are doing this? to help kick off the 400 year anniversary to give our region that sense of being "community glue" the connection from the past to the future.
